It’s amazing how small she can get when she curls up

Sometimes I’m lazy and when I get home I just want to sit and watch TV and I wish I didn’t have to take the dog out.

But on the whole, especially after an extraordinarily unstimulating day at work staring at a screen, I can’t wait to get home and go walk her outside on a sunny day.

Plus, she’s pretty happy to see me for me which is more than I can say for the cats who are all like MEOWRRRR feed me human!

Humanity’s Best Friend: How Dogs May Have Helped Humans Beat the Neanderthals
Neanderthals lived and thrived in Europe for 250,000 years. Then humans showed up. Within 10,000 years, they were extinct. How did humans crowd them out, evolutionarily?
A new theory says that the beginnings of paleolithic dog domestication could have given early humans an edge:

Dogs would help humans to identify their prey; but they would also work, the theory goes, as beasts of burden — like the Blackfeet and Hidatsa of the American West, who bred large, strong dogs specifically for hauling strapped-on packs. (Paleolithic dogs were large: They had, their skeletons suggest, a body mass of at least 70 pounds and a shoulder height of at least 2 feet — which would make them, at minimum, the size of a modern-day German shepherd.) Since transporting animal carcasses is an energy-intensive task, getting dogs to do that work would mean that humans could concentrate their energy on more productive endeavors: hunting, gathering, reproducing.

Are Pit Bulls Inherently Dangerous?
The Maryland Court of Appeals recently deemed pit bulls and pit bull mixes “inherently dangerous,” but many animal experts and dog advocates believe the court overstepped its authority.
“Inherently dangerous” implies that all pit bulls are, through genetics or their environment, born with a vicious streak. The science does not appear to support this.
For example, a University of Pennsylvania study on dogs found that the top three biters of humans were actually smaller dogs: Dachshunds, Chihuahuas Jack Russell terriers.

ugh don’t even get me started…
want to know about inherently dangerous? if someone makes eye contact with my “vicious” pit bull, she sees it as a sign that they want to pet her. she’ll roll over on her back to have complete strangers rub her belly. she would be the worst guard dog in history because no matter who we bring into the house, she always greets them with utter adoration and frantic licking.
just because a dog is strong and muscular does not make them a vicious killer
